US holds landmark FCS field experiment
Elements of the US Army's Future Combat Systems (FCS), together with surrogate FCS platforms, participated in their first military field experiment during April. The US Air Force-led experiment, designated Joint Expeditionary Force Experiment 2006 (JEFX '06), was conducted at Nellis Air Force Base (AFB), Nevada.

JSF team works on fix for over-heating engine
The decision to raise the F-35B's engine thrust levels has resulted in an over-heating issue * It is hoped that a new turbine vane design will solve most of the engine temperature problem

BAE forces EADS to buy its Airbus stake
BAE Systems will compel EADS to buy its 20 per cent stake in Airbus, having formally exercised its put option on 7 June. BAE Systems had issued a put option intention notice on 2 May, almost a month after it informed investors that discussions had begun on selling its Airbus holding to EADS, which owns the remaining 80 per cent. The option was included in the Airbus Shareholders Agreement, which was signed in 2001.
